Exeem

Uncategorized No Comments »

For all you warez monkeys out there, you should know what Exeem is. If you don’t know what it is, you’re not a true warez monkey. If you know anything, you know that Suprnova.org went down about a week or two ago. Then they said that they had a big announcement coming today (December 30th) at 1pm PST (4pm EST), which was a little over 15 minutes ago. I was in the irc channels (irc.suprnova.org #NovaStream.org and #Suprnova.org) and I was listening to the radio stream (http://www.novastream.org/listen.m3u). At the time of the announcement, there were approximately 700 people in #Suprnova.org and about 600 people in #NovaStream.org. Also, the official radio stream was maxed out at something like 1272 listeners or something. There were many temporary mirrors of the stream because people kept getting kicked from the main stream. There were probably in the ballpark of 1500 or more people listening to some form of the radio stream at the time of the announcement.

Anyways, as to what the announcement actually said, well, you’ll just have to click “Continue reading…”

Well, first of all, the official Exeem website will be Exeem.com (although I checked it out, and it looks like Exeem.net and Exeem.org are also registered to the same person). The program is still in beta and a final release is not scheduled for release yet. However, the public beta will be released most likely in about 2 or 3 weeks (mid-Janurary 2005). It is a peer-to-peer file sharing software that is somewhat similar to Kazaa, except it uses a different network. Also, different from Kazaa, it strongly integrates Torrent technology. Torrents are what Suprnova.org were focused around, until the site went down, of course.

Key features of the program include:
- Low memory usage (official requirements are 200mhz processor and 128megs of ram, but in the announcement it was stated that it could run on an even slower computer. Supposedly, the memory usage is about 1meg of ram per 1 download)
- Comments and ratings for the files

Other important information:
- Being developed for Windows, no current plans for Mac or Linux versoins
- Serial numbers for activation of the program are supposedly going to be given away on the NovaStream.org radio stream in the coming weeks
- You can download the entire interview in mp3 format HERE

I might update this post later with more information when it comes. Or maybe I’ll just make a new post about it. We’ll see.

Surprising Statistics (?)

Apparently Obesity raises the risk of getting pregnant. Honestly, I thought it would be quite the opposite. But I guess I was wrong.

Yeah, yeah, I know that if you actually read the article, it actually says that overweight women on the pill are more likely to get pregnant than smaller women on the pill. Still, they really should have chosen a better title for the article. Unless the author of the article is a middle-aged woman having weight problems.

Religious Suckage

Uncategorized 1 Comment »

Well, I recieved the first comment that really seemed to me like it almost deserved its own entry on my site. And then, in response, I wrote a comment that definitely deserved its own entry. I combined their forces and now that is what this entry is about. The comments are in response to my Why (Just About) All Religions Suck entry.

Psst…click that “continue reading” thingy…

This first entry is by jo:
I know how mad you can get at religious people, i know how ediotic do you have to be to fall for these ridiculous religions that make no sense. But i am a person highly expierenced in religion ive read every sacred book and converted to alot of the religions you just mentioned. Ive been threw expierences youve never even heard of , and i wont mention it cause its too awkward and weird. But dont get mad at people because there religious, there only human they need something to believe in. I had given into religions to get away from my miserable life and wanted to feel that there was something out there that would love me and wouldn’t hurt me. Its human nature to make up religions and give yourself to it like mothers blindly love there kids wether there ugly or mean. When i was religious i hated athiest , and when i was athiest i hated religious people, like you do now. But no matter how much you think no matter how much you study or expierence your always gunna come back to the same place. So dont take religious people seriously unless they impose there religions on you or threaten you then you can get a little mad.

And this is my response:
Thank you for your comment, jo. Just to clarify, I reserve the majority of my hate for people trying to spread their religion to me and people who not only believe but also tell everybody that anybody who isn’t part of their religion is horribly bad. But I still do hate the average religious person a little bit. This little chunk of hatred is mostly out of lack of understanding I guess. I understand that people want support and such in their lives, but I really don’t think that inventing a whole complicated system of made-up characters and old stories that didn’t even happen is very mentally healthy. Basically, if you look at religion but then don’t call it religion, it’s just a bunch of crazy people seeing, feeling, and believing in things that aren’t true. But, of course, if you tell them that, then you’re going to their imaginary “hell” or whatever they call it because you are just so evil. So why can’t they properly secure their life? Can’t they just talk openly with their family, close friends, and (if necessary) a counselor of some kind? I know many people have had rather traumatic things happen in their lives (and I’ve had my share), but ignoring the mentally healthy options and jumping right to religion is the path that way too many people take. That leads to huge numbers of poorly mentally healthy, desperate, unfulfilled, ignorant people nearly dangerously full of themselves and headstrong.

Just so you know, I’m not posting this to make fun of this jo person or anything. If he is to be made fun of, he can do that himself (unless he pisses me off, but that hasn’t happened yet).

Hey, I found this picture and I couldn’t help but add in some text. Yes, yes, I know that it’s very immature.

Old Desperate Japanese Men

Uncategorized No Comments »

Thanks to Katie for the story idea and link.

You may think that this entry has one of those completely random titles that I can come up with that has absolutely nothing to do with the content. However, this is sadly untrue. Take a gander, if you dare, at these old desperate Japanese men.

That’s right, for an affordable $90 (or 9,429 yen, if you’re keeping track), you can rest your head one this disturbingly accurate portrayal of a woman’s lower half. Oh, and make sure it matches with your other furniture because it comes with a red skirt or a black skirt. On sale since late November, this item has reached 3,000 shipments. Who is the target audience for this marvel of merchandise? Well, the company said “We thought our main customers would be men in their 20s, but even men in their 60s are buying it.”

Now you all know what to get me for the holidays.

I shoved my digital hand into the time-space continuum and happened to pull this out. Hope you enjoy!

Here it is! (1280×1024 resolution .jpg file, about 133kb in size)

By the way, I don’t know if “Screenshots From A Parallel Universe” will turn into a common occurrence or not. I would like them too because they are fun and (I hope that) people enjoy them. However, I am very lazy and they take a significant amount of time and even a little creativity. So, we’ll see. If you really want to see them become a regular thing around here, you could actually let me know (by commenting, emailing me, etc).

Support Our Troops

Assuming that you all live in America (which is my job, as a selfish ignorant American pig), you’ve probably seen some of these stickers all over cars and windows and newborn babies:

Well, I’ve seen about a zillion of these driving around my town. It’s a little disturbing to see that about one-quarter to one-third of the cars in my town have this little thing stuck somewhere on them. Now, don’t get confused. I don’t hate our troops. I just hate the stupidity of our country. I made up a slightly different version of this sticker that I would like to see around town: (click the “Continue reading…” to see the picture)

I don’t know, I just think it would be funny for the majority of the population of America to buy this sticker. Oh, the irony.
